Ivy Cole and the Moon
A novel by
Gina Farago

Ivy Cole has come home to the South, and her first order of business upon arriving in her new mountain town is to eliminate the unsavory folks who reside there. Proud of what she can accomplish under the spell of the full moon, Ivy leaves the consequences of her actions lying about Doe Springs (in pieces) as a reminder that evil happens to those who deserve it.

But something else has taken up residence in the land, something violent and cruel, with an unconscionable appetite that eventually targets the ones Ivy loves. While she hunts and is hunted by the other, Sheriff Hubbard doggedly works to solve the mystery behind the savage killings and mutilations.

Ivy Cole and the Moon is an artful mix of horror, mystery, and Southern literary fiction. Farago weaves ancient werewolf and wolf mythology throughout her plot while blending in scientific and historical facts about true wolves. Forget the stereotypical Hollywood monster. Farago reinvents the werewolf in this first of the Ivy Cole Werewolf Series.

Absent for more than a century, the voice of the wolf rises over the Appalachian peaks once more.

Bareback (or Benighted)

A novel by Kit Whitfield

It is a world much like our own, with one deadly difference: ninety-nine percent of the population is lycanthropic. When the full moon rises, humans transform into lunes, bloodthirsty beasts who cannot be reasoned with or tamed. Those few born unable to change are disparagingly known as barebacks, and live as victims of prejudice and oppression. All too often, they are targets of savage mauling and death by lunes who break the law to roam free on full-moon nights.

Twenty something bareback Lola Galley is already a veteran of the Department for the Ongoing Regulation of Lycanthropic Activities. When her friend loses a hand to a marauding lune, then is murdered before the attacker is brought to trial, Lola is desperate to see justice prevail. But the truth is seldom simple - and Lola may not like the shocking answers she uncovers.

They are here among us…

Far from home, gifted with special abilities, hunted for their powers. And they are desperate to find their other, the one who completes them…before it’s too late…

Sometimes, Time Really Does Stand Still

Mila Adams has always known she was different. For as long as she can remember, she has had the ability to shift time, and who would believe that? Certainly not the obnoxious blind dates her mother keeps foisting off on her. But Mila can’t help feeling there’s someone out there for her, a soul mate who might understand her unique ability. And when she looks into the dark eyes of financial whiz Garrick McClellan, she can’t but feel her time has finally come.

Any man would lust after a beauty like Mila, but the moment Garrick touches her–feels her shifting time just as he can–he recognizes her as his partner in power. Their connection is immediate, passionate, raw, and beyond anything either has ever experienced. But who are they? What is this gift that joins them so intensely? Are there others like them? And why do they feel that time is running out?

Strangers in death Sunday, Feb 24 2008

STRANGERS  IN  DEATH

Autore: Nora Roberts

Editor: Putnam Adult

You can buy it on: Amazon, Amazon Uk

Summary:
Technology may be different in 2060 New York, yet the city is still a place of many cultures and great divides. But as ever, some murders receive more attention than others-especially those in which the victim is a prominent businessman, found in his Park Avenue apartment, tied to the bed-and strangled-with cords of black velvet.
It doesn’t surprise Lieutenant Eve Dallas that Thomas Anders’s scandalous death is a source of titillation and speculation to the public-and of humiliation to his family. But while people in the city are talking about it, those close to Anders aren’t so anxious to do the same. With some help from her billionaire husband, Roarke, Eve’s soon knocking on doors-or barging through them-to find answers.

But the facts don’t add up. Physical evidence suggests that the victim didn’t struggle. The security breach in the apartment indicates that the killer was someone known to the family, but everyone’s alibi checks out. Was this a crime of passion in a kinky game gone wrong-or a meticulously planned execution? It’s up to Dallas to solve a case in which strangers may be connected in unexpected, and deadly, ways.

My opinion: A marvelous book. I don’t know how Nora Roberts can write so many good books in so little time, but she do. Maybe she is an alien, I don’t know, but I love her books.

Every book of the In death series is different and new and good. This is the book number 26, and it’s as good as the first. The last book was full of action and with a serial killer, this is about a murder in Agatha Christie style, Eve, like Poirot must follow her logic ti capture the murder, and find proof to keep  the guilty in prison.

Spoiler- don’t read if you don’t want to know

It’s a classic case. When a husband dies who is the murderer? The wife of course. Nora Roberts reveals the guilty after only 20-22 pages, because it’s easy to see, this time the difficult task for Eve will be find proof to imprison this cold cold woman. The book is really good, and remind me of the Agatha Christie classic: Lord Edgware dies, and of Hithcock films. Nora Robets gives us a mistery book of class.  Thank you Nora!

THE LAST TWILIGHT - Marjorie Liu Friday, Feb 8 2008

book cover of The Last Twilight (Dirk & Steele, book 7) by Marjorie M Liu

Summary: Amiri, Eddie and Max (brother of the protagonist of Tiger eyes) go to Africa to rescue Rikki a doctor and virologist. It will be a difficult task and they will discover the shadow of the Consortium there too.

The book was full of action, from the start to the end. The characters never stay put, they are aleways running and escaping. In this novel, we discover more about Amiri’s past and also about the misterious Rictor (I hope he will have a book only for him). I like this book, but my favorite of the series remain Shadow Touch.
